Bhutan is a magical experience - it surpassed our expectations. Excellent organisation. Superb attention to detail. This is the third time I have travelled with Mountain Kingdoms and every time the trips have been excellent. Mountain Kingdoms are our first choice of company for this type of trip.
Because the tour was so rich and varied I, for one, did not feel I had missed out on anything essential. I very much enjoyed the wonderful places we visited, the excellent local guide and drivers, the lovely people we met and the excellent company of the other participants.
Excellent guide - knowledgeable, pleasant manner and flexible. Good choice of accommodation.
The itinerary was well put together, a good mix of sightseeing and walking in non-touristy rural areas. The lodges were well-chosen - I love especially the locations of Himalaya Height Resort and 3 Mountain Lodge - fabulous views! Our trip leader was wonderful, and the staff at the lodges were delightful.
The other guys on the trek were very good company as was our trek leader Cshiring Sherpa who was most attentive to us. He was always cheerful, helpful and informative and appeared to have the respect of the cooks and porters. The local people were friendly and interested in us and sometimes enjoyed testing their limited English.
What I enjoyed was the fact that the standard of care was as good, if not better, than all the times I have been to the Himalaya, particularly Nepal. Our guide was excellent, we were well looked after.
It was great to travel to Bhutan with a company that had such an obvious interest in the country and its people. I found the tour leader and local staff to be friendly and knowledgeable and I learned something about Bhutan.
Wow, what a trip! Seeing the chimps and gorillas in their natural environment really was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. With so few gorillas in the wild it was a very special experience, one I'll treasure for a long time. Uganda itself is a very beautiful country and has lots of wildlife to be seen, including the big five and countless colourful birds.
Just a brief note to thank you for all your support and good advice regarding our treks in Sikkim. The Singalila ridge/Goecha La trek was fantastic. Nice to see blue sheep and mouse hares high up (but no signs of the yeti!). Pemba Sherpa was a superb sirdar - what a great guy and an extraordinary life story. Thank you very much again, we wouldn’t think of using any other company for future trips.
A cruise which heads south enabling you to witness the contrast and change in the Arctic from Spitsbergen to Greenland and finally Iceland. Travelling on a warm and comfortable ship, with excellent and plentiful food, you pass through the dramatic scenery with regular trips off the ship both by zodiac and on foot. There are plenty of lectures to fill your day when you are not on deck looking for whales, dolphins and the numerous sea birds.
