We very much enjoyed the whole Mountain Kingdoms experience and thought it was extremely well organised and an amazing opportunity. Meeting the lovely Burmese people, both in the isolated mountain villages and in smaller towns and cities was so interesting, they are unfailingly polite, gentle, smiling and interested in visitors which is very refreshingÉ The standard of food, restaurants and hotels in both countries was fantastic: our team of 16 porters and cooks on the 6 day trek were very attentive and supportive and we always felt safe at all times.
A small friendly group, excellent support, a very remote location untouched by western civilisation, very well planned route, the right balance between adventure and comfort. The guide from Mandalay onwards was particularly interesting, very articulate, happy to talk to us and take us round off the beaten track, e.g. on a ship in Yangon.
All three guides were excellent; very keen to please and gave us lots of informationÉ The hotels were of a very high standard and the service provided was excellentÉ We loved seeing the markets and people up close and the stupas and Buddhas were magnificent. People were so friendly and helpful, especially hotel staff.
The route was well planned and varied with at least one guaranteed 'wow factor' every day and the comparative lack of tourists we encountered fully justified the title of the tour. The small group size enabled us to have more interaction with the local people than one would normally expect on a package tour and was one of the main contributing factors to our enjoyment and appreciation of the country. I felt that the itinerary had been very carefully planned to maximise our short time there and that we were visiting parts of the country and having experience denied to the majority of run-of-the-mill tours arranged by larger companies.
This was the best experience I've had travelling with Mountain Kingdoms. Our knowledgeable expert guide, the pristine wilderness and our energetic husky dogs made this an exceptional active adventure.
Everything was very well organised and ran smoothly. Hotels were of a very good standard throughout, as was the food. The itinerary was very comprehensive, we really felt we had a full and varied experience of life in Sri Lanka, its history, culture and way of life.
We much enjoyed our holiday in Cambodia and were delighted to meet so many happy, friendly people along the way. The temples were astounding, the Killing Fields were chilling, the country side was lovely and filled with so many interesting sights and photographic opportunities - overall Cambodia was a delight to visit, and our guides were wonderful.
What I particularly liked about travelling with Mountain Kingdoms was the personal attention and that there was a good mix of trekking and cultural sightseeing.
Having just returned from your Luxury Lodges trip to Ama Dablam we feel that we must say what an excellent trip it was. It was our eighth trek in the Himalayas, our second with you, and was in every way outstanding. The lodges and food being a revelation and the guides superb in every way.
The holiday was excellent and the guide, cook and porters on the trek went out of their way to make sure our every need was catered for. The care, attention and food were excellent and they should know how much their hard work was appreciated. We were well looked after at each and every point. The guides were knowledgeable and extremely friendly.
