Langtang Valley Trek & the Laurebina La, Nepal reviews

Friends on a shared adventure

This was once again a very well organised Trek from Mountain Kingdoms. The scenery was all we hoped for as we ascended the Langtang Valley. Our small group gelled immediately into a group of friends on a shared adventure. Our thanks must go to our trek Leader Durga, his assistant Ram and the porters who ensured we thoroughly enjoyed our 15 days of walking.

Awesome Langtang

The Langtang Valley was a truly awesome place - the mountains, the friendly people in the tea houses, the way the area has recovered from the tragedy of the earthquake in 2015. The accommodation was better than we expected and we really appreciated the higher standards. The icing on the cake of the whole trip was having Durga as our lead Sherpa, who'd also led our Annapurna Sanctuary trip 10 years ago.

Beautiful Langtang

Langtang is a beautiful valley - the walk to Kyanjin Gompa is certainly worth the effort. I would call the climb up Tsergo Ri a tough climb (not a tough little climb) but the views from the summit are superb. The trek up to Gosainkund lake and the Laurebina La is very different and makes the whole trek balanced.

Langtang Valley Private Trek

This was a very well organised trek with everything running smoothly. We had excellent guiding from Durga, good pace-setting by Lapa. Durga's timings were very well chosen so that we avoided bad weather in the afternoons. Tea house accommodation was satisfactory, food was very wholesome and people were extremely friendly throughout the trip. The Langang Valley has a huge variety of ecosystems with loads of plant, animal and bird life. Durga's knowledge of these was hugely helpful.

Private trek in Langtang Valley

Adventurous walking, attractive pine and rhododendron forests and marvellous Himalayan panoramic views. Also an interesting stay in good quality accommodation in the fascinating city of Kathmandu.

Private Trek to Langtang

This was an amazing two week trek seeing many different mountain ranges and differing environments. We saw many different types of wildlife including monkeys, herds of Yak and Mountain goats. The weather was cool but wonderful blue skies every day. We had a fantastic local team looking after us, supported by the Mountain Kingdom team.

Langtang and the Laurebina La

A very enjoyable trek in stunningly beautiful mountain scenery. The itinerary allowed excellent acclimatisation in the Langtang valley, so we were well prepared for the more rapid ascent to Gosainkund and over the Laurebina La pass. The debris of the 2015 landslide that destroyed Langtang village is sobering, but the locals are now ready and keen for trekkers to return. Our local sherpa guide was excellent, and all travel arrangements, including for a personalised extension in India, worked smoothly.

Trekking in the Langtang Valley

Trekking in the Langtang Valley was undoubtedly one of the best things I’ve ever experienced! Flanked by high peaks, I followed the trail along the valley from Sybaru Besi to Kyanjin Gompa where the panoramic mountain views were truly incredible. Each night we stopped in simple tea houses where we received the warmest of welcomes from the lovely local people, as well as some very tasty dal bhat! The Langtang region was devastated by the 2015 earthquake, with many lives lost and houses destroyed, but the indomitable people have done wonders in re-building their homes and villages, and re-opening the trails. Now they just need trekkers to return to help them restore their livelihoods. I encourage anyone looking for a Himalayan trek, away from the popular trails, to go and experience Langtang – you may even have it all to yourself.

Good route - lots of variety - scenic, ethnic and walking

Langtang & the Laurebina La

We felt we always had excellent care throughout the trip.
