An excellent, well organised and varied tour. The hotels exceeded expectations with helpful staff and well equipped, comfortable bedrooms. All meals were well presented and of a high standard. Our guide was very knowledgeable and efficient and the driver competent throughout the mountain roads: 'a safe pair of hands'. Some walks were quite challenging and a degree of fitness should be recommended. Overall, a brilliant experience.
This is a great trip - it gives you a great opportunity to explore these countries through trekking, walking and sightseeing, with the excellent guides sharing some hidden gems with you, along the way. There are a couple of challenging days but the rewards for your hard work are well worth it. This is a really interesting area of the world to visit and an opportunity to see a way of life that is rare to see, and which seems to take you back in time, which leaves its mark on you.
Travelling through Bhutan was an amazing experience, not least due to our superb guide, known to everyone as Bull. He has been a guide for 30 years and knows Bhutan, its history, customs and places intimately. As we were the only people on the trip, Bull was able to adjust and add to the itinerary to suit the weather, our interests and abilities (we are mid 70s), and local events. Bhutan is like nowhere else; unspoilt, peaceful, uncommercialised and very special. Go before it changes.
The holiday was very organised, everything run smoothly. The scenery was exceptionally interesting - you were in the middle of nowhere, out of civilisation and next to nature. The accommodation was very good too, especially at the Estancia Christina. The food delicious. The title is a bit misleading. Everything else was great. (Thank you for your review Ioanna and we're so pleased you had a great time. In response to feedback we will look at the grading of the trip to take account of the longer walking days - the MK Team).
My once in a lifetime trip to Everest Base Camp was brilliant. It was wonderful to be immersed in the Nepalese culture with such a fun group of like minded people. Our Sherpa Sirdar and his team were so kind and helpful, it was a privilege to spend one night as guests in his home. I had carefully researched which travel company to go with (spreadsheet and list of criteria). Mountain Kingdoms came out a clear winner with their group size, organisation and ethics around carbon offsetting.
Fantastic experience walking in the Annapurna foothills with the mountains towering in the distance. Comfortable lodges, good food, very friendly people. Great hotel in Pokhara, and an amazing heritage hotel in Kathmandu. Good value for money as well.
The trekking and views of the Himalayas were great. Food excellent quality throughout. Superb customer service and support from local service companies. Walking with the elephants at Chitwan was very special.
This was a great trip. Would love to have spent longer in the area. Semir was a really good guide with great knowledge of the area, nature and history. He was very patient and had a good sense of humour. We were a small group which was an advantage in this area where tourism is still growing as this gave us the chance to meet other trekkers in the small communal dining rooms along the way. The accommodation was varied, but overall the quality and comfort was better than we expected.
Everything went exactly according to plan from the moment of our arrival to our departure. We couldn't have wished for better accommodation in Marrakech and Essaouira. The guide (Hussein) and cook (Hassan) were great and the trekking was just right for us (easy but not too short). The camping was comfortable, trip companions friendly and stimulating, and the scenery along the coastline and the beaches was stunning. Perfect weather too! The farewell meal was the cherry on the cake. Memorable.
A very varied and enjoyable trip with excellent local staff and hotels. A good mix including all the main tourist sights - avoiding the worst of the crowds - local markets and areas that are off the beaten track but well worth visiting. However, the jungle trek from Chi Pat has changed significantly now that a road has been built. (Thank you for your very helpful feedback and we will be changing the Chi Pat jungle walk for future departures - the MK team).
