Fell in love with the country

I fell in love with the country and its people and I'm planning to go back in a couple of years' time. What made the trek really special was having local guides. I saw other companies who used European guides and I'm so glad we had local ones. Nima and Bir in particular were outstanding in terms of their hospitality and kindness, and I couldn't recommend them highly enough.

Ideal group size

What I appreciate most about Mountain Kingdoms is the small numbers. It means smaller, more characterful hotels, better and quicker transport and eating in a small party is so much more pleasant.

Evocative

The route was very well planned and I particularly appreciated the train journey from Samarkand to Tashkent. This was very evocative of the silk route going across the huge expanse of deserted steppe and seeing the small isolated villages.

Great experience

The whole trip was great - thoroughly enjoyed - well organised and well lead! Excellent does not do a good enough description of the quality and variety of food we were given! Equipment standards were excellent and very comfortable. The trek leader was exceptional, was organised and knowledgeable.
