Ideal group size
What I appreciate most about Mountain Kingdoms is the small numbers. It means smaller, more characterful hotels, better and quicker transport and eating in a small party is so much more pleasant.
Evocative
The route was very well planned and I particularly appreciated the train journey from Samarkand to Tashkent. This was very evocative of the silk route going across the huge expanse of deserted steppe and seeing the small isolated villages.
Remote, challenging & fun
Fabulous remote countryside, friendly staff and local people, a good balance between challenge and fun.
Great experience
The whole trip was great - thoroughly enjoyed - well organised and well lead! Excellent does not do a good enough description of the quality and variety of food we were given! Equipment standards were excellent and very comfortable. The trek leader was exceptional, was organised and knowledgeable. I had a great holiday and a great experience that will bring me back to Ladakh and Zanskar. Thank you everyone at Mountain Kingdoms.
Memorable holiday
Your expertise and knowledge of the country showed in the itinerary and dossier provided. Everything ran smoothly. You gave me a holiday which I will always remember. I embarked on it feeling that I was in safe hands.
Lodges were fantastic
Fantastic holiday - expectations from the brochure and pre-trek information were met, on the ground services in Nepal were good, always there, always on time. Lodges were fantastic with hugely friendly staff.
Annapurna and Everest - Fantastic
Lodges were fantastic with hugely friendly staff.
Excellent overall
Overall the trip was excellent and lived up to our expectations. The boat trips were a highlight. Stopping off in the local villages, mixing with the local people and children was also very good.
Good accommodation
Felt personal, friendly, both with MK and team in Pokhara. You really do get the best accommodation available, by the leader sending a runner - well done. Little touches such as the gingham bedsheet, the amazing warm fleecy sleeping bag liner (I never got cold), and the snacks carried throughout the trek.
Great value for money
Inclusive nature of holiday on trek with no need to worry about paying bills or having change. Attention to detail (bucket of water, towel and soap for handwashing which I've only seen on camping treks before). Supplementary fresh foods and map also included. Not having to fit sleeping bag into kitbag. Good interesting choice of route.
