Days 1-2 | Begin your holiday with an overnight flight to Kathmandu in Nepal where you have a great choice of accommodation. |
Day 3 | Fly to Paro in Bhutan then drive to Thimphu, the kingdom's compact capital. |
Day 4 | Stretch your legs after all that travel with an easy-paced hike to Wangditse Monastery and drive up the giant Buddha statue for commanding views of the town and surrounding countryisde. |
Day 5 | Take a walking tour of Thimphu town with visits to the market, handicraft workshops and the Textile Museum where you can see examples of Bhutan's exquisite, hand-produced textiles. |
Days 6-7 | Drive to Punakha for two nights where you can enjoy glorious valley walks and spend some time at its picture-perfect riverside dzong. |
Day 8 | Return to Paro across the Dochu La pass with its 108 chortens and drop in to the nearby botanical gardens where you will see many native plants. For a glimpse into rural Bhutanese life, you could spend the night in a village homestay in the Paro Valley. |
Days 9-10 | Meet your trekking guide and support team and set off on the overnight Bumdra trek. You will spend a night camping beneath Bumdra Monastery with superb Himalayan views, then trek on to Taktsang Monastery - the Tiger's Nest - Bhutan's premier cultural attraction. |
Days 11-13 | Trek completed, you fly back to Kathmandu. There's time for a sightseeing tour on foot of its key cultural sights including Durbar Square and Swayambanuth, before your overnight flight home. |
